There is plenty to do in and out of the water when you visit Chincoteague beaches and the Assateague National Seashore. The primitive-style beach provides the low key relaxation that is a hard find anywhere else on the East Coast. Surf fishing, guided fishing tours, deep sea fishing and pier fishing are all available in the area. Kayaks, boat rentals, and nature cruises are also great ways to enjoy your stay...

Assateague National Seashore
Assateague National Seashore, more affectionately known as "the beach", provides 37 miles of sandy beach along Assateague Island's shore. Walk long enough and you are sure to find that perfect shell! Swimming, surfing and lots of relaxing in the sun await you on Assateague National Seashore. The beach does have life guards, in season, and a nearby visitor's center hosting a range of activities including guided walks and a "touch" aquarium.

The signature alternating strips of red and white and twin rotating lights can be seen from 19 miles out to sea. The lighthouse grounds are accessible year round. You can climb its steps to the top for a spectacular panoramic view of Chincoteague and Assateague Island. This is available one weekend a month from April through October.
