Assateague Lighthouse
Built in 1933 along the shoreline of Assateague Island, the Assateague Lighthouse stands 154 feet above sea level. The signature alternating strips of red and white and twin rotating lights can be seen from 19 miles out to sea. The lighthouse grounds are accessible year round. You can climb its steps to the top for a spectacular panoramic view of Chincoteague and Assateague Island. This is available one weekend a month from April through October.
