Virginia festivals, concerts and events are a great way to experience some of the things that Chincoteague and the Virginia Eastern Shore have to offer. Throughout the year, Chincoteague Island is the host of several festivals and events including, the Seafood Festival, Blueberry Festival and Oyster festival, so there is bound to be something for everyone.

Easter Decoy and Art Show
The annual festival is always held on Easter Weekend. Come and explore the roots of Chincoteague Island's waterfowl hunting by meeting with second or third generations of decoy carvers. You will be pleasantly surprised to find that the skill of carving has evolved into delicate and very intricately detailed pieces of sculpture. This is a juried show; so many award-winning artists will have their work on display and for purchase.

Seafood Festival
An eastern shore tradition! This is our version of a political stump meeting, but of course it's not the politicians who gain center stage! That is reserved for the wonderful all-you-can-eat seafood and the live band! Make your plans to stay at the Island Manor House and enjoy the Seafood Festival, which takes place on the first Wednesday of May each year.

International Migratory Bird Celebration
Join the festivities planned by our dedicated park rangers and volunteers to celebrate the changing of the seasons and spring bird migration. This event is held at the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge and is comprised of guided walks, tours, demonstrations and activities. This celebration is on the second Saturday in May.

Fireman's Carnival
Take a trip back in time to the "good 'ole days" by attending the Chincoteague Volunteer Fireman's Carnival. This carnival is held each weekend during the month of July and every night the week of Pony Penning. Play bingo and other carnival games, take your chance at many of the drawings and enjoy carnival food...shore style!

Pony Swim and Penning Week
This world-famous once-a-year event draws large crowds and is certainly a festival to make plans as far in advance as possible to enjoy. Staying at the Island Manor House allows you the opportunity to make dinner reservations prior to arrival, book other activities, and be in the know before you arrive.

Blueberry Festival
Celebrate the blueberry harvest at the Blueberry Festival held the last weekend of July at the Chincoteague Center. Enjoy everything blueberry, plus arts and crafts shows.

Chincoteague Decoy Carver's Association Show
Celebrate the history of the island and working decoys at this show sponsored by Chincoteague's Decoy Carvers. The show is held the Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend.

Oyster Festival
The Eastern Shore's largest seafood festival is sponsored by the Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce; you will feast upon oysters and other seafood while listening to a live band. Fun is certainly had by all. This festival is held the Saturday of before Columbus Day.

Chili & Chowder Cookoff
Sponsored by the Chincoteague Main Street Merchants, this is a wonderful Saturday event held in the Robert Reed Downtown Waterfront Park. Walk across the street from the Island Manor House to enjoy this event. The cook-off is held on the third Saturday in October.

Assateague Island Waterfowl Week
One of the best kept secrets on the shore. This is a week-long celebration of Assateague Island and the magnificent work that goes on there to maintain a vital wildlife habit. This is also the only time of the year that the "North Road" is open to drive and see the northern herd of the Chincoteague Wild Ponies. This makes a great reason to celebrate Thanksgiving Island Style, as this event begins the weekend prior to Thanksgiving through the weekend after.
